Liverpool formation change suggested by Anfield Wrap podcast

Neil Atkinson of The Anfield Wrap (March 6th, 43:10) believes that Liverpool will change their formation to help bring the best out of Fabinho.

What’s he said?

Fabinho struggled in the FA Cup tie with Chelsea, which the Reds lost 2-0.

He was caught out for their first goal and he was subsequently slated on Twitter by supporters, and by pundit Stephen Warnock. The latter claims he has been “poor” since coming back into the team.

And Atkinson believes that Jurgen Klopp may have noticed that, and will subsequently attempt to bring the best out of the Brazilian by changing things up against Bournemouth this weekend.

He said: “The idea of changing the formation, there’s a couple of reasons why he might think about it. Firstly, he’s done it against Bournemouth before, last season when we went away from home he played a bit differently.

“He may just want to shake it up a little tiny little bit, maybe get Salah more central and closer to goal.

“Maybe also get a pair of legs next to Fabinho to make it a bit easier for him.”

No clues: Can you name the season these iconic Liverpool images belong to?

Still recovering

Fabinho still appears to be recovering from the injury he sustained against Napoli, when he sustained ligament damage.

He has only played 90 minutes in the Premier League three times since and it makes sense for Klopp to attempt to introduce another defensive-minded player to ease his load.

Bringing in James Milner, as an example, alongside him, makes all the sense in the world against the Cherries.

After all, Fabinho still appears rather rusty, and having a shuttling defensive-minded player alongside him could well take the pressure off his shoulders as the Reds look to get back to winning ways.

Amazingly, they’ve lost their last two, and fans may start to believe they are in the midst of a wobble if they lose again this weekend.
