Many Aston Villa fans could not believe what Gareth Southgate said after England’s 3-0 victory against Wales last night.
The Three Lions strolled to a comfortable a victory at Wembley Stadium after Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Conor Coady and Danny Ings helped them continue their preparations to face Belgium on Sunday.
Villa captain Jack Grealish started the game and put in an impressive display under the arch, but it appeared to go unnoticed by Southgate after the final whistle.
Speaking during his post-match press conference, the 50-year-old was asked a question about Grealish’s involvement in the game. While he provided a few positive superlatives, Southgate changed the subject and proceeded to gush over Mason Mount, who was a second half substitute.
Unsurprisingly, this brought a negative reaction from plenty of the Villa Park faithful, who strongly believed that the 25-year-old is being deliberately ignored by the England boss.
