The midfielder appeared to injure his knee before being substituted. As he was tended to by medics, and limped off, he was in tears, perhaps suggesting that he could miss a significant period.

Gavi is the latest in a long line of Barcelona injury problems. They currently have Marc-Andre ter Stegen out due to a back injury, while both Frenkie de Jong and Sergi Roberto are also on the sidelines.

According to , initial tests on Gavi have shown he has suffered a 'major knee injury', with a more extensive assessment to follow within the next 24 hours.
